With a 16 litre fuel tank , dragging is probably what it's best suited to.

I saw one today at the dealer, very nice and neat, great engineering and finish. The tank could have been made much larger and IMO would have suited the bike better considering the size of those jugs, from the rear they are massive. Sitting on the bike , the seat is quite low but the footpegs are a bit high so my knees were too high and with the feet tucked in behind the cylinders it is not comfy for me, in fact the bike as it was just does not fit me. See what else comes out but I don't see it making huge in roads into the HD market which is what one video suggested it was targeted at.

I just got back from the dealership and saw the 1800. Beautiful profile, like a hard tail. I remembered what you said about the rear view and yes the jugs were like Mickey Mouse ears. Tank is beautiful but I could see that it could handle a larger one. I sat on it, felt nice to be low to the ground, takes little effort to swing upright. Looking down my legs I saw the foot pegs and they looked too mid for me. I was told there were alot of accessories that you can switch out from the factory, maybe relocating pegs is one of them. It would take a bit to get used to the boiler looking motor, it sure is different. So, looks great but I would rather have a V twin in the frame. Maybe then you can complete with Harley because it will look like one. Actually better looking.

I would like to see how they could change the peg position, I tried resting my calves on the cylinders and my heels were in direct contact with the headers. I think somewhere I read of a shield for the cylinders for resting legs but even that would be awkward. I think HD won't suffer any more than it did with the Tbird.

Yeah Lee there is no relocating the pegs but they have some kind of plate for the lack of a better word, that rides on top of the jug so you can stretch out your legs. Sounds awkward. I didn't know the bike has a reverse assist

Awkward and a long way from the foot controls. Reverse is standard on the first release ones then an option after that.

I should be test riding one shortly - however I'd never own a BMW product no matter how much I like it - curious though.

Black SuperStorm, shortie TORs, wilbers +10mm shocks, Hagon progressive fork springs, Harrison Billet 6 pots.

Most reviews call the R18 a work of art (except possibly the mufflers), but all complain of leg position and lack of forward controls. First link below compares the R18 with other BMWs, the Harley, GoldWing, Diavel and Rocket - making the Rocket look very good in the massive cruiser market (massive referring to the bike and the market).

Other reviews aren't quite so kind: Link
